What is Manual CPE Upgrade?
Bigleaf’s manual CPE upgrade feature lets you upgrade your Bigleaf CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) firmware directly from the BCC (Bigleaf Cloud Connect) dashboard. This feature is the first step toward a more self-service experience, with future plans to support bulk and scheduled upgrades.
Who Can Use Manual Upgrades?
Admin users in the BCC dashboard can initiate manual upgrades.
If you don’t see the “Upgrade now” button, you may not have the required permissions, or your device may already be up to date.
Where to Find the Upgrade Option
You’ll see the “Upgrade now” button in several places:
Company Devices tab
Firmware Status Indicators
How to Perform a Manual Upgrade
Locate your device in the BCC Dashboard.
If an upgrade is available, click the “Upgrade now” button.
Review the firmware version and release notes (link provided in the modal).
Confirm the upgrade. The process typically takes about 10 minutes.
The device will reboot during the upgrade. Expect a brief (2–4 minute) interruption in connectivity if you are performing the upgrade from a computer that is currently behind the target CPE.
What Happens During the Upgrade?
A progress bar will show the upgrade status.
The upgrade process includes downloading the firmware, installing the firmware, and rebooting the device.
If the upgrade takes longer than expected, the UI will keep you informed and handle timeouts gracefully.
Once complete, you’ll see a success message. If there’s a problem, you’ll get an error message and support contact info.
Note that any failures will also be automatically reported to our Engineering team.

Q: What if the upgrade fails?
You’ll see an error message with details and a support phone number.
If your internet connection is down after the upgrade, the UI will let you know and provide next steps.
Q: Can I downgrade firmware?
No, downgrades are not supported. The UI will only offer upgrades when a newer version is available.
